Dear Idiot Writer:

You’re use of the word “faith” and “evolution” in the same sentence leads me to believe you either a)did not attend school or b) have the unfortunate circumstance of growing on Catholic. To remedy either (or both) problems, I suggest something called “reading”. It may be a difficult concept at first, but once you begin, you’ll learn a plethora (that means “a large amount”) of actual, factual, information. Have a nice day.

Yours truly,

The Enlightened Masses

Yes, I realize the title are, in some realms, polar opposites. So naturally, I bring them together in this one blog post.

I begin with China. I’ve been watching this whole Olympic Bonanza since the beginning (which I love, btw. Maybe because USA dominates a lot, and I like pretending that being an American somehow helps them, thereby making me a winner too, but whatever), I realized how much I dislike China/government corruption/fake gymnasts. From the whole “we let the ugly girl sing and the pretty girl lip-sync because we want her to be the image of our nation” to the “uh….our clearly pre-pubescent minipretzelpeople are definitely at least 16…here are there fake, government issued, doctored passports to prove it”, I think it shows how crazy, and potentially scary, China really is. They’re so concerned with their “national image” that they couldnt give a rats ass about the million and millions of poverty-stricken people living in their country. I would blame Communism in general, but in theory, Communism actually works. Its the execuation by unstable, corrupt governments that messes it all up. Even though I’m not into politics or government at all, I can’t help but feel thankful we live in some sort of democracy, with protected freedoms. Though I think our own country has a lot of issues (some of which may never be handled, cuz unfortunately, much of the governing body is self-serving, stubborn idiots), I think it is clear that we, on a whole, are far better off than the millions (billions?) of people around the world who are sufferering under the regimes of corrupt governments and can’t do anything about it.

In completely other news, this fun article supports one of my ultimate theories…that is, that straight people get gayer when they’re drunk, and alternatively, gay people get straighter when their drunk. Ultimately, the article says that when under the influence, you find ANYTHING more attractive. So ya…it was kinda general and I tailored it to fit my theory (which I think completely violates a HUGE rule of science…i should work on that considering my future career), but nonetheless, it was a fun article that made me laugh.

And now…..back to China for more Olympics.

its great, i promise

aka “Why I believe religion will one day lead to the fall of mankind”

please also take note this came from the Canadian youtube. I’m sure its equally as accesible on the American site, but still, just the fact that I found it on the Canadian site is a sign…..Canada is an EPIC FAIL.

So, it is time to tell yall about two very important things, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog and The Guild. Both are freakin AMAZING video experiences.

Dr. Horrible is brought to you by Joss Whedon, media GENIUS (creator of Buffy, Firefly/Serenity, and the upcoming Dollhouse). It’s about a down-and-out supervillian (played by Niel Patrick Harris….my favorite person in the world), the love of his life (played by Felicia Day, more about her later), and his arch nemisis, corporate tool Captain Hammer. It’s three parts, about 45 minutes total, and completely awesome (and has MAD catchy music). It may sound less than cool, but just watch it, you’ll love it, I promise.

Now, The Guild. I just disovered this recently. Felicia Day (Penny from Dr. Horrible) writes, directs, and stars in this AWESOME video series about a group of people who play a massively multiplayer roleplaying game (like World of Warcraft…or the much better Everquest). The show is completely nerdy, and you may only understand it if you play videogames (especially MMORPGs), but seriously, anything with the quote “maybe now I can dip my wizard staff in your mana pool” deserves at least a few minutes of your time. Oh, and Felicia is HYSTERICAL at the beginning of each segment, so just….you know…go watch. It’s an epic win.

Other thoughts of the day:

  • I have no freakin idea who’s gonna win So You Think You Can Dance….anyone can win and I wouldnt really care
  • Is twitter AND blogging too much?
  • Will I have to delete this before applying to med school/getting a job due to inapprop material (oh right, i abbreve…get used to it)?
  • my room is really hot right now…its all kinds of not fun

ok, so real post….

I just finished watching the first season of Mad Men (for all you victims of Comcast, its On Demand, or just stream it from somewhere in Asia with surfthechannel.com). Let me tell you, AWESOME SHOW. I feel all adulty liking a show that lacks magic, superheroes, or any element of science fiction, but its filled with fucked up people in fucked up positions in a relatively regular world. Seriously though, you should watch it.

things to do:

  • fix the time….UTC means nothing to me. right now, i think wordpress thinks im somewhere in europe (its actually still august 5th here)
  • configure this blog so its less “you just registered a blog! here’s all our preset ish” and more “this blog is more representative of awesome”

So, I see these people all over the interwebz getting blogs, and I say to myself “hey self, i find enough interesting/crazy/geeky/nerdy/AWESOME shiz on the web, why not share it with everyone else?”. So I present to you, my very own personal blog of awesome. Basically, I plan on posting whatever entertains me, thereby forcing all my thoughts/opinions/awesomness on thee, my fellow readers (which i bet there will be about 3….but whatever, I’m cool with that). So…..ya…..I’ll blog more letter while I get this bad lary set up.

oh, and no, while it seems like i am under the influence of something, currently (sadly?) I am not.
